		<description>&lt;p&gt;There was a Mercades E500 to compete with the GS and (I think?) a BMW 330 to go against the IS.  My understanding is that the manufactures stack the decks in their favor when the put these events on.  For example, at the GM event, they didn't have the Dodge Magnum or whatever the overpowered station wagon that everybody liked is.&lt;/p&gt;

		<description>&lt;p&gt;Was the BMW the only competitor's car they had?  It doesn't exactly compete with any of the cars listed above (the GS430 is more of a competitor to the 550, and IS competes with the 3-series).  It would be interesting to drive the IS vs. BMW 3-series vs. Audi A4 vs. Acura TSX vs. Mercedes C-class vs. Infiniti G35 (and maybe throw in the Volvo S40 and Saab 9-2x for kicks).  But that might end up embarassing Lexus so they probably didn't want that to happen.&lt;/p&gt;
